A gorilla behind the glass in a zoo decided he wanted to know more about the outside world — and an eager zoo-goer was happy to show him.
A teenage boy was recorded showing photos of other gorillas to a captive gorilla, named Jelani, at the Louisville Zoo in Kentucky, according to the YouTube video description.
Jelani sat right against the glass and seemed uninterested in anything else going on. The boy had the gorilla's complete attention.
The gorilla responded like any friend would when viewing another friend's vacation photo. He nodded, then looked expectantly at the boy for the next photo.
Eventually, the boy and the gorilla were leaning into each other against the glass, sharing photos and maybe even taking selfies.
They looked like two close friends, just hanging out.
It's bittersweet, however, because this gorilla is behind bars.
Many other zoo animals have bonded with zoo-goers in the same way. While adorable, each encounter is a reminder that animals really belong in the wild.
